FeinMecanix Plastic. Joined May 8, I am a peps user. Been using it for about a year and a half. My verdict is still out. Using the V version now after starting with version 8. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. There are most certainly a few bugs and the workflow requires many clicks.
I am also not sure about the technology settings. I have a fanuc wire edm. It is a bit hit and miss and I have no real idea why. So 3 grand for the box and another 8 grand for Mastercam Wire I'm trying to do really simple things in the new software that were pretty easy to do in the old software, and I'm having a really hard time with it. I mean really basic things like copying entities from one layer to another Why do they do these things to us Nothing is easy in the new software And this is supposed to be "better"?? I guess I have a looong looong learning curve ahead of me again.
Long story short, it will take a million clicks within Mastercant to become efficient, and how do I know that I migrated from V9. Rant off Every product takes a downturn when marketing is put in charge.

Have any recommendations?! Which CAM software simulation is tied directly to the post? I would say that was more the point of this question that originated this post. If your softwares machine simulation isn't based on the g code from the post, what is the best way to verify.

One thing a lot of people when they first get into more custom posts, adding switches, changing the way things are done don't do is test and verify, I am guilty of it. While everything is done to preserve the output of the post, there can be unexpected changes.
Use caution when running newly revised or edited post processors. Changes in other areas may have occurred unexpectedly. I would say this is the most important step in receiving a new, edited, or updated post. My post has so many added switches and options that control so many things, I will never hand edit a posted code, if I post something and can't control it within my CAM software, I send the post back immediately to my reseller and have them add it. So my question is which software pulls in post file data and utilizes what would be the posted code during simulation? Mastercam with the ModuleWorks MachSim. Post Developers can control MachSim through the post to exactly duplicate the gcode they create. This is not a generic post you would download for free, which is why most don't know about it. ModuleWorks charges a fee for this integration, and obviously the post dev has a bunch more work beyond creating just the logic for gcode, they have to convert that gcode logic into machsim motion, so obviously this is a paid feature.
Joined Oct 27, Location On Tour It otherwise blows my mind that MC, who HAS post processor development, did not capitalize on posted Gcode verification! I very much realize that posts can very easily add functions and movements that are otherwise invisible. I know this because I personally modified one to force a Z retract by 2" when changing offsets. Actually that entire operation of running many offsets is invisible to MC. That is a special internal subroutine post.
And ModuleWorks is a separate entity or an MC option? What kind of switches are we talking here? I think most of the stuff I need are at the machine level. It is one thing I loved very few about our Haas. It came with extra Mcodes AND the relays. Came in very handy. Look at a Fanuc So many ways to do it, yet so expensive in machines that don't have those options factory.
I don't like wasting time, but one broken tool can lead to a massive problem. Verify CNC G-code with just one click!
